Merry and I went down to La Jolla Friday just in time for the massive wind waves. By Saturday morning it had calmed enough to allow us to make a long surface swim to the first yellow buoy at La Jolla Cove.
It's only 1/4 mile, but with the waves and two different currents, it took us 42 minutes to get there. We dropped down into dark, dirty water and found vis of less than two inches at the bottom.
We moved into shallower waters and it was just as bad. After six minutes, we surfaced and made another long surface swim back in. We looked at the Shores, but it was just as bad.
