I have a lot of favorites, but if I had to pick just one (and its a hard choice to only pick one), it would be Point Dume for its pinnacles and wall. There is just something about looking toward the surface from the bottom of a wall that awes me with its majestic beauty. Its like mountain climbing in the weightlessness of space.

Only two I wouldn't rush to dive: Carpenteria (it was an interesting expedition over the vastness of sand) and Cabrillo (exactly how dirty is that water and is the vis ever better than 6 inches?)

We are really lucky to have so many great beach spots within an hour or two drive.
