You have a nice blog going there! A couple of suggestions for some good mainland snorkeling (depending on conditions, of course): Dume Cove, LaJolla Cove, LaJolla Shores near Marine Room during the leopard shark mating season in spring, Niholas Canyon's kelp beds in flat conditions.

Also, some dive boats will give you a price break if you're 'just snorkeling' - I spent a 3 day trip once 'just snorkeling' - was fantastic, as the fish come right up to you unlike when you're on scuba.
