It's a big area, but much of it isn't good. That said, the good is very good. Try about half way down. I found areas there.
A good idea is to try to get a map. Find the fingers. If you want to go deep, check out the ancient sea wall.
Dive the sewer pipe. It's marked by boeys. It's like an underwater breakwall. It's quite interesting.
It is one huge kelp bed. You can meet porpoises and even whales in it.
Ya know, on the south side of Point Loma, across the channel is the breakwall of Zuniga Point. Try that on a calm day.
Deep off of La Jolla is fascinating... I guess so is shallow, but the deep parts were like Santa Rosa deep.
There are some reports on my website at www.diver.net/seahunt, but I suggest that you try to get some local info.
