Per the ruling, it would appear that if you do not exceed your medical training, then this act may apply. So you can provide CPR. The big question is can you perform a rescue (even if trained), as its not necessarily 'medical'. This is the part that needs to have legislation enacted to protect rescuers.

Another fine mess of the California Court system...
