This is interesting and all that, but I'm not sure that they are looking closely at past work.
They seem to have discovered that abalone spawning varies from season to season. Uh, they should have talked to the California
people about it.

reproductive potential is so high that two good seasons 10 years apart could accomplish most of the recovery. That line suggests
mammalian population growth patterns.
I'm afraid this is a news article, not a science article.
