Several years ago on a Sea Divers trip to San Miguel aboard the Peace we encountered two male and one female Blue whales mating.
The swam under the boat and surfaced next to it and blew several times a few feet away. The best way to describe the breath was the smell of fish that had been rotting in the trash for a week.

I whish I had seen the humpbacks as close up as you did. I have only seen them from a distance.
