CHAMBER CHALLENGE 2010 - UPDATE #9 - $38,075 (posted 4/19/10 - last updated 4/15)

Michael Kane certainly knows how to make a splash.

The easy way is to make a giant stride off of a dive boat. But the way that benefits the Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber and which can directly benefit us all, is to call us with a $10,000 donation to the Chamber Challenge. That’s not a misprint.

There’s no question that Michael and I - quite publicly at times - have gone head-to-head over differing views about diving. But the one area where we’ve always been in 100% agreement is the importance of supporting the Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber.

Michael knows that whether you’re a beginning diver, a tech diver, or anything in-between, some day our Chamber could literally be what stands between you and life & death, or living a normal life versus the prospect of never walking again. Diving injuries don’t care who you are, what brand of diving you endorse, or what gas you’re breathing. If you’re bent or embolised, you need our Chamber.

Michael was the one who gave this Challenge it’s initial boost many years ago and we’re quite happy and thankful to accept his contribution again this year. The last few weeks leading up to Chamber Day/Eve are sometimes our most critical and busy and Michael’s gift not only gives us a big boost, but also hopefully will spur others of you reading this right now to dig deep and donate, either through the website (www.chamberday.org - click “On-line Donations”) or by calling us at 310/652-4990.

Whether it’s $10,000 or $100 or anything in between, your donations make for a Chamber that’s healthier, and that means a diving population that has a better chance of staying healthy when something goes wrong. So please join Michael and the dozens of others who have already contributed.

So . . . who's next? Who will help push us towards (&/or past) $40,000?
