Ken: I can see why you thought it might be a mako from the pictures, the pictures make the nose look much more pointed than it was. Pat was "lucky" to get those pictures with the glare etc. As good as they are, they don't do the animal justice. So far this is the second young one we have seen in SM Bay and both were "slender" compared to the adults. Maybe they are like people, get a spare tire as they get older from eating that high fat diet of marine mammals after they go off the fish diet?
