Proposed abalone regulation changes

Hey all please take note of this and please write those letters.

DFG is proposing big changes to our abalone regulations in California. They are asking the Fish and Game Commission for approval to go to notice on the following options:
1. Close Fort Ross area for 2 months of the season
2. Reduce annual limit from 24 to 12 abs
3. Prohibit abalone diving before 8 am

SCAN is supports a total update of the management plan, survey methodology and consideration of the new MPAs as a buffer against uncertainty. SCAN does not support the proposed changes at this time.

What can you do !
write to the Commission - SCAN will be at their next meeting in Stockton, June 29-30. North Coast tribes are also planning a big turnout in Stockton regarding the MLPA.
