Sure. I've dove almost every silly place in California, but few sillier than Santa Cruz and I think I did more diving there
than anywhere else as well. Hey, what's not to like? Brown water or green on a really good day, big waves, Elephant seals
buzzing you, Men in Grey that you never see and currents that will take you for a free ride into Monterey Bay. That is
besides the cliffs and steep beaches.
It is about 12 feet deep between the Point at Steamer Lane and Seal Rock. I know because I've dove there and also been bounced
off the bottom by a big wave at that same spot.
I really like Greyhound Rock, but finally decided it was the most dangerous dive spot in California so I moved on to Shark
Central at Pidgin Point. Sure, they will only bite you by accident and then spit you out, but...
Here are a few reports from local diving there

  • Greyhound Rock - Nasty Dive

  • Santa Cruz Area

  • Got High On A Reef

  • When You Can't Dive...

  • Pidgin Point

  • How About A Mavericks Dive

  • San Mateo Coast Coffee Table Book
  • ... Yah, launch from the harbor, but look out for surfers in the bbreak at the mouth

    Enjoy the diving, seahunt

Steamers, looking at the Boardwalk. A playground.

Pidgin Point. I once saw 6 feet of vis there!
