Lobsters sell licenses which are a significant revenue resource for dept. To curtail "opportunies" for the hoopnetters would have an impact on their bottom line. Funding is a big part of the problem.

My problem with that revenue scheme is that it prioritizes future revenue in a way that detracts from protecting and maintaining that resource today. As a plan it is unsustainable and contrary to their charter.

The DFG is far too permissive to be credible to their charter..

They actually allow (multiple) treble hook ganions to be used for the INDISCRIMINANT snagging of wildlife. All of my attempts to contact Carry Wilson (Q&A) about the legality of this practice were ignored--they ain't having that discussion!

I am grateful that the DFG exists, but for those of us who truly love our inhabitants, the DFG will never be there for us.
