Over the years I have come across an interesting way of poaching, we have always called them Ghost Traps. On a recent dive just south of the MLPA closure in Laguna, I found two of these on one reef. They are commercial Lobster traps with fully baited cages and the openings are wired shut. They are then placed deep in choice holes with no buoy system to the surface. So my question is, are they placed by commercial guys, or are they placed by Rec divers which would be poaching. Anyone out there see this, or have heard about this, and have you heard it is poaching or another way the commercial guys trap a reef.
