Very interesting video.
I could hear the concern as the fisherman and cronies chortled over the fact that their hooked GWS was headed directly into a group of swimmers and their jolly mirth as it took a panicked bite of one - Oh what hilarity ensued. The guys fishing ought to be strung up. He was damned well fishing for GWS and having a hell of a good time until his skirting of the F&W laws escapade ended up taking down an innocent bystander.

And Chris, I too grew up on the South Bay piers and in fact still keep a presence on most of them fairly often. Rays and leopard sharks yeah, some are caught. Tell me, when was that last time either you or Sheller saw a thresher caught off any of the local piers? Oh, and by the way, aren't threshers commonly inshore in the Sept/Oct time frame?
