I've also used an older copy of Pinnacle for home projects; it came with a tape to digital converter I bought so I figured 'what teh heck'. Its easy to use and frame accurate with a lot of special effects included and more that can be purchased as upgrades. A good reference book that is more about what the editor wants to achieve, rather than a 'how to' is "Technique of Film Editing" by Reisz and Miller (get a used copy - its been in print since the early 50's). Your video looks pretty clean, so the need for color correction, etc. doesn't require a more advanced system. You have a very good, unique story to tell, Brad, outline your story, put it together and have it go viral! Maybe a film student or class at UCLA, USC or CalArts might want to work with you on a project.
