Try and find the stuff National Divers sells. I know what you're talking about with the Trident material, it tears really easy.
National Divers has a light green one they sell that is much better than the black. It must be some sort of blend to get the color but it's also stronger.
I found it at SubSurface Progression in Ft. Bragg but there might be somewhere in LA that has it.
