Some of the old 72's use a 1/2 tapered thread valve. You have to put these back on with thread tape and they don't go all the way into the tank. You can tell these valves because you can see the white thread tape. Looks a little odd but works nice. All the others use the regular tank valve- 3/4, I think.
These are not a problem. Mostly you find 72's with the regular valves, but once in awhile you find the other kind. I love the 72's, Great tank. I have about six of them. Bought one Walter Kidde at a yard sale for 3.00 and it passed hydro. An old Voit. B. Xavier/Visalia
