The ocean was as flat as can be this morning in the Santa Monica Bay. Merry Passage, Kevin Lee and I headed north for a change of pace. We dived the Big Pipe and Elevated Pipe off El Segundo hoping to find some different animals than we usually find around Palos Verdes. When it comes to finding something different Merry hit the jackpot. Just as she was about to begin her ascent at the Big Pipe a five foot Great White shark swam slowly past before turning and heading toward her. Merry said she saw the toothy smile before it flicked it's tail and scrammed.

My camera was out of commission so I only shot topside photos with our point and shoot camera. The fires in the hills west of Malibu were still raging. The billowing smoke resembled an erupting volcano.
