Captain Andy wanted to show us one of his secret spots today. We met at King Harbor and headed north toward Marina del Rey. Merry was shooting wide angle while I was attempting to snoot again. We dropped to the bottom and could barely see our hands. The best laid plans and all that.

We pulled anchor and headed back south for a dive at Kevin's Reef. Conditions were less than we're used to but it was good enough to look around the reef. We followed that dive with one at the crane off Haggerty's. There were no schools of fish, the three moray eels were hiding and the kelp has all but disappeared. I think I'll take a few days off.


Newly formed zooanthids on red gorgonian. I've never seen any that weren't already yellow and twice this size.


We were all smiles earlier in the day. Now...I could use a nap.
