Citizen scientists UNITE...to document the aquatic biodiversity of Laguna Beach's marine reserve!

Laguna Beach State Marine Reserve
Saturday & Sunday, May 18th-19th

Grab your gear and head out to beach, joining marine scientists, underwater photographers, amateur naturalists, and adventure seekers, in a fun contest to document as many Laguna Beach marine species as possible over the span of a weekend. Scuba isn't required, but all AquaBlitzers are expected to fully immerse themselves in the sea!

All you need to participate is an account on iNaturalist.com, a means of taking underwater photographs, and enough gear to get yourself into the water comfortably and safely.

If you need help setting up and using iNaturalist, want to learn inexpensive ways to use your cell phone to take underwater photographs, or have an interest in learning to identify Laguna Beach's many fishes, invertebrates, and algae, we'll be offering a series of free workshops to get you all prepared for the AquaBlitz. To register for a workshop, call Pacific Wilderness at (310) 833-2422.
