We are going on a cruise in the Society Islands in May. From everything I am seeing, free diving and "surface snorkeling" seemsnto preferable to SCUBA because much of the most beautiful coral gardens are in 10' or less. I want to see the amazing colorsnof the living corals. As far as I can tell the SCUBA excursions have the same animals as the shallow freedives. So I am thinking of blowing off the quick dives for long slow floats.

Anyone here have experience in the Bora Bora or Moorea areas?
