Then why did you take the class? Simply to complain about it later? I've heard you complain about this before. Wasn't it many years ago that you took this class. And isn't much more info available today about the advantages of helium than there was back then.
Was it a sanctioned class? If so, by what agency? Is the class still being taught? If so, why? Do the curators responsible know less than you Frank Farmer about hyperbaric physiology?
The way I see it is that by reducing the nitrogen content your drunken stupor is reduced. Nitrogen is elevated from the point of descent. Narcosis is present and steadily increasing from the time you leave the surface. A mild nitrox mixture will reduce the narcotic nitrogen value.
How about diving at your age. Isn't that like diving handicaped.
