My wife and I were driving to Monterey once and stopped at Monastery on the way because the water was just rippling up to the beach. I've made lake dives in much bigger waves! We geared up and walked into the pond and had the best Central California dive ever. 40'+ vis and no surge. Some of the locals told us it gets that way 2-3 days out of the year. I should have bought a Lotto ticket that day.
