Per Michael's comment of NAUI mandating nitrox in basic classes, based on his interpretation of comments made by Bruce Weinke (first paragraph) in the summary of the NAUI conference . . .

I just got off the phone with Jed Livingstone, NAUI's VP and Director of Training (at least, I think that's his title). I thought rather than us debating what this may or may not mean, it would make a lot more sense to go to the source.

I asked Jed if NAUI was considering this sort of a move.

He said no.

In fact, he added that he could never envision NAUI mandating the use of nitrox in basic classes at any time in the future.

Hope that helps clear things up.
