I read his comments, and I agree, as saying that planning a solo, cave dive to ~200' on air is stupid..

Further on in the thread on the wkpp list it goes on to say that this kid only had 80 total dives under his belt..

Whether you have 80 or 800 it's a stupid plan, but the fact that he was found tangled in the mainline begs the question... Was he narc'd and if he had a buddy could his buddy have gotten him untangled...

His mindset and his approach to a dive was all wrong, that's what got him killed.. The answer to my question about deep air or solo is merely a symptom to a bigger problem.. This kid didn't have sufficent respect for the dangers of a dive, certainly not the kind of dive he planned... The mindset is often times more important than the gear configuration, the chosen gas or the buddy selection...
