My wife and I have been kicking around taking an ASL class to better facilitate communication underwater. Now granted, it's far from ideal, but I'm surprised that the DIR folks haven't made some adaptations to simple ASL.

Actually, since my mother and little sister both work with the deaf, I take crap about not knowing ASL anyway.

Anyone have any comments on the idea of using sign language underwater. Gloves could be a problem, but not a major one. Anyone?

--as for alternate means of communication, I've been a ham since high school, and a CW (morse code sorta) specialist for most of that. Our club used to take trips all the time, and we'd just use the car horns to communicate. Worked pretty good.
