got a cert fourteen years into my SCUBA experiences. It was a PADI AOW that taught nothing but did eliminate that annoying "I'll need to see your C-card" problem I was encountering at more and more shops that did not know me. Fact is, I consider myself to be nothing more than a "student"(compared to people who seem to take it very seriously, i.e.MHK) I am learning from just about everyone I dive with something to do, or NOT do and different ways to do it. I too have seen caves, caverns, Ice, deep (252fsw max), waterfalls (no joke we dove UNDER a waterfall in a river, not over the falls!)and even parachuted into ocean with gear. All of these were only made possible by people that had knowledge of my abilities rather than a blind faith in a plastic card purchased from some corporation. Keep your experience going
PS the ice dive thing sucked.
