Wayne, I assume you have at least a BOW card from an accredited dive training agency. If so you've got a good place to start, but only to start. As any diver who shows a real interest in recreational scuba diving will note, nothing takes the place of real experience actually diving. That being said, the interested diver should be able to separate the wheat from the chaff as it relates to finding a good instructor to teach you recreational scuba diving.
How many people on this list are trying to force typical rec diving down your throat like the "DIR" acolytes? (with all its inherant condescension from a select couple)
If you want to dive "DIR", by all means, knock yourself out. But on this list you're not exactly preaching to the choir like you would be on the GUE list.
Have fun.
