The case was removed to federal court and a motion to dismiss filed for lack of jurisdiction. Suit ostensibly brought in OC because that is where the "injury" allegedly occurred (and yes, under the full faith and credit clause of the Constitution, one state will enforce the proper judgment of another state).

Truth is a defense to slander, don't know what you mean about confidentiality issues.

Suing "Does" (note, it's not "John" Does) is simply a procedural device to get around statute of limitations problems if it turns out that you find out later that another entity or person is responsible. If the plaintiff knows who the "Doe" is when the case is filed, they cannot amend to replace a Doe with that person if the statute of limitations has passed.
