I got a buddy who's a stainless steel welder and was laid off so now he's helping a commercial fisher friend of his and they are working the Drakes bay area. He says that the flatties are hot right now.
He's trying to get me to take my skiff out there but I'm paraniod because there is huge elephant seal colony right there at Pt. Reyes, and it is hard core whitey country. Inside Tomales is good. Also we were thinking of River mouth north (whitey country) or another place would be Mendocino bay, that is all sand. South of the Russian right now is all mudded out, huge mud line all the way down past Bodega and out quite a ways.
Any of those sandy bottom coves might be worth a look.
And last but not least, Shelter cove.
