Downhill in this case means;
A current that is heading in a rather southernly
direction, or in this case, a rather south eastern
direction. As opposed to a generally northern
direction, or in the case of Catalina's frontside,
a north western direction (look at a map whereas
N is towards the top of the page and you will get
the gist).
