I've been researching lobsters until I'm red in the carapace, but I haven't found any evidence that any lobsters carry genes for excessive growth. I believe that the larger bugs got that way simply by living in areas of abundant food and not visited by predators as much as areas like Flat rock or Malibu. Someone made a comment about not taking bugs older than yourself. Males can live up to 30 years and females up to 20. rom the names I recognise on this bbs, I think there few here younger than that. Check out this interesting reading from CA DF&G.
