Frank, here at DIR central, we choose to balance our configuration so that it does not require inhibiting goodies, some in which take more energy to use, like ankle weights.

Although we use gator wraps to resrict the gas in the calve/foot area, these gator wraps plays two roles so we do not consider them gimmicks. One is streamlining the kick. Kicking ones legs with a bunched up wrinkly suit creates resistance, thus requiring energy, thus loosing swimming proficiency. And two limiting the bouyancy issues caused by ballooning lower extremities which often result in a diver loosing a fin.

Rather than adding weigthed gimmicks to our ankles, here at DIR central we choose to use a heavier fin, such as the XL Jetfin made by Scuba Pro, which offer much more than just weight, they offer POWER.

Using gator wraps and XL Jetfins doesn't cause any unnecessary waste of energy and actually increases diver performance.

Although gator wraps were designed by Halcyon this is not a mindless plug for them. And Scuba Pro have one decent peice of equipment left. There XL Jetfins.

Thank you for concidering Doing it Right
