True, the spawn was very minimal this year.
Part of that may be because every commercial fishing boat on the west coast on the west coast from San Diego to Alaska now comes here to fish squid.
This worries me since squid is a fundamental link in the food chain and one of the main foods of many game fish species.
It seems that we do not learn from history.
In the late 50's we over fished sardines and the disappeared for almost 40 years, only recovering somewhat in recent years.
